Saying goodbye to permanent water restrictions

IPA has commissioned a report from the Allen Consulting Group that advocates a framework that will allow for the abolition of permanent legislative water restrictions by 2012. The Paper discusses a range of options that are available to governments to secure the water future of Australia through harnessing the innovation and expertise of the private sector. The paper advocates three key recommendations which are the creation of a market for discretionary water use, promoting competition in the water market and the broadening of water trading to include urban areas.
