Mr John Fitzgerald
Biography
John is responsible for the provision of strategic commercial, financial and risk management advice to the Victorian Government. Activities include managing the State’s balance sheet, prudential supervision of the public financial corporations, Public Private Partnerships (PPP’s), infrastructure investment, commercial and property transactions and the monitoring and governance of the State’s major Government Business Enterprises. Most recently he chaired the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Infrastructure Working Group’s development of the national PPP policy and guidelines.
John joined the Department in 2000 as Director, Commercial Division and led the development of Victoria's PPP policy, Partnerships Victoria. Prior to that, John held senior management positions with PricewaterhouseCoopers, AIDC, Deutsche Bank and the Commonwealth Bank. John has 30 years of commercial and financial experience in infrastructure, project finance, property finance, securitisation and debt capital markets.
John has a Master of Public Infrastructure (Research), he is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (Victoria).
