ASIC Consultation Paper 154

As part of continuing consultations on this issue, IPA has responded to ASIC's Consultation Paper 154. Some key issues raised in earlier consultations and submissions have not been addressed in the revised proposal by ASIC. IPA supports any measures that would facilitate a greater investment in infrastructure, however, the proposed methodology to achieve that purpose is extremely flawed. The proposed disclosure measures unfairly single out infrastructure entities and, if deemed necessary, should apply to a wider range of entities. The proposed measures in their current form would introduce additional complexity which may actually deter infrastructure investment.
